Who is Roberto?
Origins with Roots and direction
My name is Roberto García Villaseñor. I was born in the beautiful state of Michoacán, but since my adolescence I’ve in Campeche, a place that has given me a deep connection with the nature and history of this region.
Field learning
From a very young age I began exploring these jungle landscapes, fascinated by their biodiversity and archaeological treasures. This curiosity led me to collaborate with national and international researchers on various scientific projects.
A link with the jungle
It was here in the heart of the jungle, where I discovered my passion for exploring what would later,in 2014, officially become the Calakmul Biosphere reserve the largest in Mexico and one of the most important in Mesoamérica.
Scientific Collaborations
I have had the privilege of supporting renowned researchers such as Dr. Rodrigo Medellín and Dr. Ivar Veut, experts in bat studies at UNAM. I also worked alongside biologists. Praxedis Sinacá, José Alfredo González, and Modesto Ramirez, leaders of the national forest count in the region.
From the jungle to the world
My experience isn't limited to the scientific field.I’ve also collaborated with media outlets and explorers like the National Geographic team (see article), as well as with content creators like the YouTube channel Eat.see and RV,” who documented their journey through Calakmul.
Guide by vocation
Over the years, I've shared the jungle with tourists, researchers, and nature lovers, always with the goal of conveying the value of this unique ecosystem. Being a guide in Calakmul isn’t just my job: it’s my way of life.
